Accounting Manager

SUMMARY The Manager, Accounting under the leadership of the Director, Accounting will support the process to provide business essential, cost effective, charge-back services to associates and departments within GSFS Group.
The Senior Accountant will 1) provide general accounting services for GSFS Group and 2) ensure that all financial data is recorded accurately and on time within Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Insurance Statutory Accounting (SAP), company policy and Business Partnership Agreements.
RESPONSIBILITIES Execute a Monthly Close of the General Ledger for GSFS Group.
Prepare journal entries -- including investment and recurring entries -- for Month End Close.
Analyze, generate and process intercompany entries needed to adjust or reallocate expenses between business units.
Prepare, review and/or post Intercompany billing forms.
Maintain well-documented work papers for journal entries and account reconciliations.
Prepare a monthly analysis to explain the material movements in the balance sheet and income statement on a comparative basis.
Reconcile or approve balance sheet account reconciliations in a timely fashion; resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
Reviewing or preparing ancillary audit schedules.
Draft the Financial Statements and associated footnotes on a GAAP and Insurance Statutory bases Coordinate and communicate actions between the departments within the company.
Research and resolve accounting transaction questions and other customer issues in an agreed upon timeframe.
Strive to satisfy customers.
Minimize referrals to management.
Research technical accounting matters and draft accounting memorandums.
Set a good example for other associates and coach other associates and teammates to improve their productivity and performance.
Participate in evaluation, testing, and implementation of information technology projects.
Review commission payments Oversee regulatory and local state tax filings as needed Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES May directly supervises one or more employees.
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include managing multiple accounting processes, interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
COMPLIANCE:
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the Company's Code of Business Conduct, GSFS and FCI policies and operating standards and applicable federal and state laws.
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Accounting from four-year College or university; with 8 - 10 years related experience and at least 5 years in insurance.
Technical Expertise -- Applies up-to-date knowledge and skills needed to do the job.
Expertise in GAAP, Insurance Statutory Accounting, Excel and other PC applications required in the job.
AX General Ledger & Wings experience is desirable.
Some investment accounting experience is desirable Business Acumen -- Knowledge of business operations and key factors impacting business successes.
