The opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Rates within Rates & Tariffs, this senior-level analyst position involves analytical work relating specifically to a pipeline s cost-of-service, revenues, and volumes, in the design of interstate natural gas transportation rates. Other responsibilities may include financial analysis, acquisition/new project analysis, and implementation of new natural gas pipeline services. The successful candidate must be an effective problem solver able to leverage Excel skills to manipulate large sets of data and develop sophisticated financial/rate models. This position will work closely with Marketing, Commercial, and other groups to support and implement business initiatives that impact the broader organization. Valuable input and recommendations are expected of this position to contribute to strategic decisions regarding TransCanada s regulated pipeline assets. In addition, this position will ultimately interact with regulatory agencies and consultants.

This position is not eligible to work remotely.

What you ll do

  • Develop and update Excel models in order to manipulate and report volume and cost data, allocate costs between various service types, and design rates for various service types
  • Provide research and analysis on financial and regulatory projects. Prepare and present summary of analyses
  • Work within an integrated team to drive and execute on pipeline rate making strategy
  • Assist in the preparation of filings to be submitted to regulatory agencies. Requires ability to conduct research and apply findings to company-specific initiatives
  • Position will assist with representation of pipeline assets in rate proceedings
  • Responsibilities may include the preparation of testimony and exhibits

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Business, Finance, Economics, or another related field. MBA a plus
  • Minimum 10 of relevant work experience, with working knowledge of financial statements and accounting concepts
  • Strong analytical and quantitative ability, particularly related to economics, finance or accounting
  • Demonstrated ability to develop complex Excel models and present analyses using advanced formulae with limited oversight

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced experience with Excel, use of macros a plus
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently within the framework of a team-oriented environment
