Informatics Nurse

The duties include but not limited to:
Provides leadership as the clinical expert and consultant on BCMA issues, providing expertise regarding BCMA procedures to clinical and non-clinical staff. Utilizes current trends, relevant theory and regulatory standards to identify and analyze problem areas in programs or practice. Takes initiative and utilizes creative approaches for changing practice based on quality improvement findings and evidence-based practice. Leads clinical and education staff members in collaboration with the BCMA Coordinator to assess BCMA educational needs, plans and implements a comprehensive medical center education plan and evaluates program outcomes based on strategic priorities. Serves as team leader on workgroups to develop Nursing and BCMA program standards of practice that include policies, procedures and/or guidelines. Ensures that Nursing and BCMA standards of practice and BCMA training requirements as they relate to complex information technology applications for optimizing patient care and enhanced management of resources. Demonstrates professional practice that has been characterized by leadership and accomplishments in developing and implementing programs to improve the services, knowledge and skill level of nursing and BCMA users. Develops recommendations and strategies to address and resolve complex issues and problems, providing direction for all key stakeholders. Establishes formal and informal consultative relationships that can also provide professional development and mentorship opportunities. Utilizes clinical, financial, technical, and community resources and systems to implement the plan. Incorporates new knowledge and strategies to initiate change in clinical health informatics and nursing practices, if desired outcomes are not achieved. Work Schedule:

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Masters degree in Nursing Informatics preferred At least three years of acute care experience preferred Recent nursing informatics coordinator experience preferred Project management experience preferred Recent Bar Code Medication Administration (BCMA) coordinator experience preferred. The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. This position requires visual acuity (including depth perception), keen hearing (aide permitted), clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity in both hands. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking (2-4 hours), standing (2-6 hours), stooping, sitting, bending, pulling (1-2 hours), and pushing (1-2 hours). lifting (>50 pounds), carrying (>50 pounds). Transferring patients and objects may be required. Mechanical inpatient lifts are provided. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations, operative/invasive procedures, or home settings. The incumbent may be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. Must complete annual Employee Health requirements, such as annual TB screening or testing, as a condition of employment. Must be able to work closely with others, as well as protracted or irregular hours of work. Must be compliance with the use of ergonomic exercises and employee safety requirements.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
