Senior Software Engineer
1. Location
This position is located in the Houston, TX facility. Up to 10% travel may be/is required.
2. Purpose of Position
Veeder-Root is seeking strong SaaS development skills to design, develop and support new software modules, changes to existing functionality and new software products for our I360-FuelQuest SaaS application portfolio of international reach.
3. Key Responsibilities
Create technical software designs to translate functional requirements into technical plans within our product architecture.
Provide high level estimates and create technical execution plans.
Provide leadership in the use of current and new technologies in our products, and on the technical implementation of product features.
Develop, test and support new feature requirements and changes to existing functionality.
Make recommendations for improvement of SDLC.
Lead effective software design and code reviews.
Other duties as assigned by Manager.
4. Relationships
This position reports directly to Manager, Software Development.
Interaction/Collaboration with Product Management, Project Management, Internal and External users, Quality Assurance and Production Support.
5. Measures of Performance
Completeness, Quality and Productivity of deliverables. These includes design, code, documentation, defect resolution.
Team work.
Communication Should be clear, correct and timely.
1. Background and Skills
Bachelor's degree required (or higher) in Computer Science or another field that has an emphasis on engineering design and development.
At least 10 years of applicable experience in software engineering, including requirements analysis, design and development required.
5 years in Java, J2EE, Hibernate, XML, Spring, Maven/Ant or similar technology required.
5 years of experience with SQL/PL-SQL required.
Experience with no-sql databases highly preferred.
Experience with web services (SOAP/REST), Enterprise Integration Architecture and infrastructure facilitating SOA such as messaging systems required.
Experience with rich web UI technologies such as GWT/Sench GXT, JQuery/Bootstrap/Angular.js or similar required.
Experience with agile software development techniques required.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills required.
