Job Description :
Software Only CEV (Crew Exploration Vehicle) Risk Reduction Analysis and Test Engineering Simulation (SOCRRATES) Software Development and Integration Engineer. The SOCRRATES (SOC) Software Integration Engineer (SSIE) is a member of the Ground Software Integration and Verification Team. In this role the candidate will be required to liaison between SOC Stakeholder teams and the SOC Development team. The SSIE will be required to work with flight software development peers, subject matter experts, database developers, and test engineers. The SSIE will be assigned to a SOC Stakeholder group to support and facilitate Stakeholder test conduct by:
Defining and maintaining the Test Environment for their Stakeholder group in support of Stakeholder test activities
Providing SOC information pertaining to the Stakeholder Test Environment
Identifying, providing and/or facilitating Stakeholder training associated with the current SOC Test Environment
Supporting problem analysis and error correction of Stakeholder Test Environment problems.
The SSIE is responsible for:
Integration of SOC software in software-only and hardware/software environments, including execution of integration tests to validate hardware to software interfaces, software to software interfaces, and functionality. Integration tasks include:
define, install, maintain and test the SOC Integration environment including maintaining the SIMICS/Coresim environment
generate SOC installation files for external customers
develop or utilize tools to install and verify SOC installations
develop and conduct Integration Tests
enhance the SOC Regression Test suite by adding Integration tests as needed
support SOC users by providing SOC system troubleshooting, problem analysis and error correction assistance
Identifying and implementing required software modifications
Participating in technical reviews/audits of software products.
Accomplishing SOC development tasks (e.g. stories, features) associated with providing new SOC capabilities and resolving defects/bugs
Supporting software quality improvement initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
The chosen candidate must have:
A degree in Aero, ME, EE, CEE, or Computer Science
Object-oriented SW development and data communication knowledge.
The successful candidate must be able to execute work tasks in a fast-paced, team oriented, rapidly changing environment and must have demonstrated ability to perform as a member of dynamic teams in a geographically and organizationally distributed multi-company environment. The candidate is required to have initiative, written and verbal communication skills, and ability to synthesize design elements for complex architectures. This position requires an understanding of full software lifecycle concepts including requirement definition and flow down, strong development skills and test concepts, and methodology and knowledge of the following software languages:
C++
Java
Python
Desired skills
A working knowledge of embedded and closed loop SW systems, and the verification thereof in both software simulation/emulation and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
Experience developing real-time embedded software and hardware/software integration.
Familiarity with spacecraft subsystems and hardware.
Test Script Languages: OS/COMET Control Language (CCL)
