Summary:


The main focus of this role will be to implement and execute a PR programme for Wood Mackenzie in the Americas region as part of Wood Mackenzie's Global Public Relations team, reporting into the Vice President, Corporate Communications, Content & Brand. He/she will be working with the various research and consulting teams with regards to the development, recommendation and implementation of Wood Mackenzie's communications with the media utilising corporate, energy and metals product and thought leadership announcements. The role holder will be responsible for making sure Wood Mackenzie receives the volume and quality of coverage it needs to enhance its corporate positioning and marketing promotions in region.


The role demands a highly proactive approach to media relations and media outreach in region. As such the Senior PR Manager will be able to demonstrate a sound track record of securing excellent coverage that positions Wood Mackenzie in a positive light.


He/she also has strong organizational and administrative skills and is experienced in working unsupervised to tight deadlines, working across international regions and within a matrix organization, whilst demonstrating excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills. He/she will also have, at a minimum, a basic level of energy industry understanding.



Responsibilities:


Wood Mackenzie's Global Marketing team is seeking a leader who can help design, develop and execute Wood Mackenzie's media strategy in the AMERICAS region. We are looking for an individual with strong experience and hands-on style to drive the company's media engagement in the region.


Key responsibilities include the following:


Strategy, Planning & Execution



  • Lead the development of the annual Americas PR plan, as part of the overall Americas marketing planning process, positioning Wood Mackenzie as the number one resource for key journalists covering energy, chemicals, renewables as well as mining and metals.

  • Design the Americas media strategy to building the brand in region by securing 'third-party endorsement' of Wood Mackenzie's views and generating interest in its products and services.

  • Cultivate/identify opportunities to both ride and write the news.

  • Partner with internal teams within Research, Consulting and Marketing to align on message development and corporate positioning content for various types of media outreach campaigns.

  • Partner with regional and content marketing teams to ensure media outreach is aligned with commercial priorities and leveraged appropriately.

  • Elevate the understanding and readiness for media relations across the company.


Media Communications



  • Execute PR programs to agreed deadlines and within the allocated budget.

    • Work with internal stakeholders in the development and implementation of media outreach plans, objectives, targets and results metrics.

    • Manage media outreach effectively, report on results and foster collaboration and learning across the team as well as with business stakeholders.

    • Manage media enquiries following established procedures as part of Wood Mackenzie's Global Press Office.

    • Leverage forward features/editorial calendars

    • Deliver and communicate clear and effective processes and responsibilities for media relations services (internal & external)

      • Ensure relevant and consistent brand exposure in all media communications.




Knowledge & Skills



  • Bachelor's degree in PR/Media, Marketing or Business discipline

  • Minimum of 8 years' PR experience within a B2B professional services environment, PR agency or working client-side

  • Experience of working in the Americas region

    • Strong evidence of PR experience in media planning, strategy and execution and relevant social media experience

    • Strong project and process design and campaign delivery skills

    • Experience measuring results and ROI reporting

    • Excellent stakeholder management and communication. The successful candidate will demonstrate a customer-focused attitude and be confident in dealing with multiple departments and stakeholders within the business.

    • Experience working in a matrix-based organization

    • Strong collaboration skills

    • Strong team player, networker and self-starter with the ability to influence at all levels

    • Willing to do some travelling within the Americas region
