Geographic Information Systems Specialist, Acquisitions & Divestitures

As a Barclays Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist, you will join the Acquisitions & Divestitures team within the Natural Resources Investment Banking platform. In this role you will partner with the investment bankers, engineers and geologists on projects requiring mapping, data manipulation of oil & gas assets provided by clients or derived from public third-party sources, as well as spatial referencing, and basic land calculations. You will work with a highly motivated team in a fast-paced environment.

What will you be doing?

Performing inventory analysis using AcrGIS or other relevant software
Preparing activity maps using rig and completion data from public / private data sources
Using your research skills to download public data from sources such as IHS and / or Enverus, quality check, and perform operator / acreage level analysis
Integrating Land data (shapefiles and/or Excel outputs) into broader asset analysis by performing basic land calculation and mapping
Performing Midstream data mapping and conducting analysis such as activity with certain radius around the pipe
Collaborating with Engineers to produce production maps, creating stick maps, being comfortable iterating to arrive at client ready products
Using SQL queries / python to be more efficient with ArcGIS, while also helping bring in geoscience data into Petra

What we re looking for:

Bachelor s Degree or special industry training and more than five years experience working as a GIS mapper/Geotech in the oil and gas industry
Experience in data mining - utilizing vendor / state / government websites to obtain pertinent well and production data for use in GIS / Petra
Good understanding of oil and gas concepts relating to geotechnical and spatial applications
Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting

Skills that will help you in the role:

Prior work experience in A&D team at E&P company or investment bank
Experience using Tableau and Spotfire to be more efficient in analysing requested data
Ability to efficiently set priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility and willingness to work overtime as required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and robust presentation skills and effective communication

Where will you be working?

You will be working in Downtown s lively Central Business District with office towers and the George R. Brown Convention Center. Everything is clustered around Discovery Green with its lake and lawns. There are also many dining options which include upscale steakhouses, casual BBQ joints and rooftop lounges.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
