IT Infrastructure Engineer

DescriptionThe IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, design, integration, and deployment of technology platforms and systems that are used to enable business IT services including applications, information management, collaboration, data storage, telecommunications, networks, and information security.
The role provides the IT infrastructure and operations function with management and administration capabilities for current solutions, and the evaluation and implementation of new technologies to best meet changing business needs in cost-effective ways.
Main
Responsibilities:
IT Infrastructure Operations Performing ongoing administration, support, monitoring, maintenance, and reporting activities for IT infrastructure systems, including servers, storage, databases, application platforms, cloud services, and related business networks.
Working closely with the IT team and external service providers and suppliers to resolve infrastructure and cloud service-related incidents.
Supporting IT Infrastructure management planning and budgeting activities by providing input on necessary infrastructure and cloud service capacity requirements and improvements.
Ensuring system configurations adhere to best practices to support business availability and performance requirements.
IT Infrastructure Design & Implementation Supporting the Head of Information Technology in the specification, design, and architecture of IT infrastructure solutions and cloud services that add value to the business.
Maintaining expert working knowledge of all IT infrastructure systems, cloud services, and technologies employed at the Company.
Performing technical planning for implementation and deployment of new systems, services, and technologies, including upgrades of current solutions.
Following project management best practices in the execution of IT implementation and upgrade projects.
Information Security & IT Assurance Keeping abreast of the cyber-security threat landscape, making recommendations on improvements and closely monitoring changing risks.
Responsible for the technical implementation, monitoring, support, and reporting of information security solutions.
Working closely with the IT support team to ensure that end-user guidance and procedures are developed for all information security tools provided.
Supporting the implementation and testing of IT Disaster Recovery solutions for critical data, applications, collaboration systems, and networks.
Ensuring that IT Infrastructure documentation remains current, including technical standards, architectures, and procedures used across the Company for equipment configuration and maintenance.
Maintaining IT system controls to protect business information assets.
Strictly following IT Change Management processes and best practices to minimize the risk of business system outages, working closely with the IT Change Manager to properly plan, test, and document system changes.
RequirementsUniversity degree qualification in an IT-related field or equivalent work experience, with a minimum 5 years in IT infrastructure and operations roles.
Extensive IT technical knowledge including VSAT; advanced networking, firewalls, WAN optimization & QoS; Microsoft server and enterprise technologies; Microsoft Azure and cloud solutions; Linux configuration and administration; Databases; Cyber-security; SAN storage; Server and blade hardware; Backup & replication technologies; VMware virtualization; Scripting & command line configuration; IT governance and controls.
Certification in ITIL or similar IT service management framework, with good knowledge of IT service design, transition, and operations.
Excellent team player with strong collaboration skills to engage with both IT and business staff.
Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent technical problem investigation and solving abilities.
Ability to manage time and prioritize workload under pressure.
Highly disciplined and adept at producing and maintaining documentation.
Ability to travel and work on vessels and in regional offices, and work outside of normal office hours, when required by the business.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
