Senior Manager, Energy Storage Engineering (Hybrid)

What The Role IsReporting to the Head of Engineering, HV and BESS, the Sr.
Manager of Energy Storage Engineering is responsible for preliminary engineering, energy storage system optimization and procurement support of stand-alone, co-located and retrofit storage facilities.
The Sr.
Manager will work with Clearway project teams, vendors, third parties, and consultants to deliver projects.
This individual will be responsible for preliminary designs and subject matter expertise, the Sr.
Manager will provide an integral capability to advance Clearway's multi-gigawatt project pipeline.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated expertise in delivering energy storage projects at the utility scale, an understanding of energy storage revenue and cost, and considered to be an expert in energy storage technology, sourcing, design, construction, and commissioningWhat You'll Be Doing Develop and maintain tools to provide energy storage subject matter expertise to project teams through origination, development, design, construction, and commissioning.
Support with building strategic relationships with energy storage equipment and services suppliers and perform as key point of technical contact within the company for relationships with suppliers.
Develop consensus on optimal energy storage system design, construction and operational approaches with partner Development, Construction and Operations organizations Maintain pre-construction energy storage reference design information and tools to support early-stage project development, and act as a subject matter expert for project teams during construction, commissioning, and start up Assemble and maintain energy storage CapEx and support with OpEx assumptions relevant for a five (5) year project delivery timeline Provide subject matter expertise in support of the technical and commercial aspects of contract negotiations, including equipment supply, EPC, PPA and energy storage agreements Lead a team of internal and/or subcontracted engineers Understand US policies for energy storage and represent Clearway in trade group working groups Identify, evaluate, and direct subcontractor and consultant for project services and deliverables Ability to travel as requiredWhat You'll Bring Minimum total of five (5) years of experience in wind, solar, and/or storage development or EPC service Minimum (5) years of technical experience in an IPP, EPC, energy storage integrator, PCS OEM, battery OEM or similar Minimum Three (3) years' of utility-level project experience including engineering, procurement, and construction Experience managing cross-functional employee groups and external stakeholders/contractors to execute a project delivery Experience negotiating technical aspects of PPAs and or energy storage contracts with offtake customers Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or controls engineering is required.
Design and engineering expertise associated with Co-located, hybrid and standalone battery storage project design Expertise in energy storage equipment and services procurement best practices Knowledge and experience supporting project delivery through commissioning and commercial operations Proficiency in managing a team in a renewables project development environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously Understanding of performance and talent management principles and best practices Ability to effectively communicate technical information to customers, project stakeholders and senior leadership Familiarity with negotiation of engineering, procurement, and construction contracts and exhibits for energy storage facilities Knowledge of key aspects of PPA and energy storage offtake agreement terms and negotiation considerations Familiarity or experience with energy market applications and telemetry requirements in CAISO, ERCOT and other energy storage markets Knowledge of energy management systems (EMS) and communication systems, including SCADA Knowledge of project financing and independent engineer requirements Knowledge of electrical standards (UL/IEEE) and National Electrical Code, building codes, U.

What We ProvideThe salary range for this position is $150,000 to $200,000 and is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.
The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law.
