Responsible for the preparation and filings of U.
S.
local business license tax returns.
RESPONSIBILITIES Prepares U.
S.
local business license tax returns, including preparation of all forms, schedules, attachments, and supporting workpapers.
Computes tax based on gross receipts for many returns.
Prepares tax payments using P-Card, check or EFT methods; obtains necessary approvals and processes authorized payments.
Records BL status in LicenseHQ (or similar) database.
Receives business license certificates and transmits to locations promptly.
Uploads certificates into LicenseHQ (or similar) database.
Assists locations with new business license needs as well as business location closures.
Communicates directly with tax authorities via email and online portals.
Maintains automated mailbox to manage workflows.
Assists tax department with acquisitions, providing transition needs to A&D team, including lists of required documents for ownership changes Assists legal team or business units with business license issues that may arise.
Collects data for audits from tax authorities that may include reconciliations to business license reports.
Works independently, self manages workload and deadlines to meet expectations.
Completes routine assignments timely.
Applies experience and knowledge of industry, company, policies, and regulations to resolve or recommend solutions.
Discusses escalated issue recommendations with peers or manager.
Exhibits accountability for work and behaviors.
Takes the initiative to discuss assignments, expectations, priorities and deadlines as well as seek guidance and coaching from manager.
Notifies manager when workload is light and volunteers for additional work.
Adjusts quickly to new work structures, processes, requirements or cultures.
Identifies efficiencies to team and manager.
Documents work as part of deliverables, resulting in high quality materials for internal and external usage.
Drafts standard operating procedures (SOP) and develops job aids.
MINIMUM Requirements Education & CertificationBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline is highly recommended but not required.
Experience At least three (3) years' work experience in corporate tax or law environment.
Experience with ERP/general ledger software, such as ORACLE.
Strong MS Office skills.
Strong Adobe Acrobat or other PDF imaging software.
Familiarity with data analysis tools.
Experience with Alteryx or similar is a plus.
Basic general ledger/GAAP understanding.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Cognitive ability to plan for large deadlines, solve problems, comprehend ideas, learn quickly, learn from experience, and appropriately apply learning to new situations.
Some familiarity with Sales & Use tax and/or Unclaimed Property is a plus.
Strong analytical and technical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Applies best practices in documenting business requirements in an iterative way.
Ability to create clear reports and data visualizations to assist in decision-making and problem analysis.
Must have a positive attitude, a drive to continually advance your understanding of the industry and business, and must be highly self-motivated.
Ability to build professional and trusting business relations as well as interact and collaborate with all levels of department management; commitment to teamwork and inter-departmental partnerships.
Professional written and verbal communication skills.
Strong working knowledge of Excel; proficient MS Office Suite skills.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
