Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for performing engineering functions specific to the discipline (civil infrastructure, storm water collection systems, sanitary sewer collection systems, water distribution systems, storm water drainage design and management, and paving and grading design) under the direction of a Professional Engineer.
Essential Functions:
Visualize engineering concepts and translate to design drawings.
Prepare reports, exhibits, preliminary and final site development drawings, and plan & profiles from verbal instructions, notes, and other input material from supervising engineer.
Use Civil 3D and Civil 3D supported analysis and modeling software to perform design tasks such as site layouts, site grading, site drainage and utilities, surface modeling and analysis, creation of alignments, creation of corridors, profiles, sections, and material take-offs for cost opinions.
Able to apply basic engineering design principles, theories, and practices to complete assignments and manage multiple deadlines.
Provide design support to engineers for public works projects, including but not limited to the design of roadways, water lines, both small and large diameter, gravity sanitary sewer and force mains, storm sewer, detention basins, site, traffic control and phasing plans, grading, and hiking and biking trails.
Responsible for the setup and production of construction plans, from concept through final construction drawings Provide preliminary drawings, redlines, and plans for submittals.
Compile all plan, profile, note, and detail sheets.
Requirements Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering.
Engineer in Training Certification or ability to be obtained within one (1) year of employment.
Must be mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties required of the position.
Must be able to read, analyze and interpret basic scientific data and technical documents.
Must be able to apply college level mathematical concepts.
Must have average verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external relationships.
Must be able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
Must have Microsoft Office suite skills.
Must be familiar with discipline related software applications.
Must have AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Microstation experience.
