Production Supervisor
Houston, TX Houston, TX Full-time Full-time $50,000 - $60,000 a year $50,000 - $60,000 a year Job Purpose The basic function of the Production Supervisor is to provide the necessary leadership to plan, lead, organize, coordinate, and control the work in the fabrication shop in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
The production supervisor will coordinate the assigned resources in such a manner that the highest quality work practicable is provided within the shortest time feasible with no safety violations or accidents and within the established budget.
He is responsible for training, supervising, guiding, monitoring the personnel and daily inspections of the work performed, keep a level of urgency daily.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities The production supervisor is effective as a coach, teacher, mentor, and example to the assigned personnel.
As such he is responsible for developing and implementing effective training programs for all shop employees.
Follows through effectively on all decisions made, and directions given by the production manager.
The production supervisor must be effective in giving direction to his personnel to help them achieve the company's standards of performance.
Must represent and enforce the company's policies and procedures.
Ensures all assigned jobs are completed on time every day, within budget, with no lost time accidents and acceptable quality.
Is responsible for the periodic performance reviews on those employees reporting directly and ensure performance reviews for their subordinates, if any, are done in a timely manner.
The production supervisor must oversee the assigned crews to ensure employee productivity and schedule attainment is optimized.
Responsible for keeping Production Manager informed on all problems, potential and actual that could affect production goals, quality levels and meet installation dates (We don't miss an installation date) Responsible for keeping track of daily production reports.
Work with Maintenance Lead/Supervisor to schedule regular machine PM's schedule to be approved by Production Manager and Maintenance Manager Maintain good employee moral Qualifications & Required Skills Qualifications include:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree Business administration, industrial engineering, or a comparable discipline Experience Should have at least 3 years on the job experience in fabrication and/or installation with at least one year of experience in a supervisory or lead position Budgeting experience Skills Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Must have strong people management, organizational, and planning capabilities be a competent leader of the job workforce, have the willingness and skills to monitor and control the activities of the job and properly implement the required motivational incentives for the accomplishment of those goals The position requires good communication skills (English/Spanish) and the understanding and knowledge of how to deal with people effectively with varied backgrounds.
This individual must be a leader and motivator, with the ability to manage multiple tasks at any time bringing integrity, fairness, concern for all persons involved, and good judgment and decision making to the position.
Must be able to read and understand blueprints and/or layouts.
Basic understanding of physical properties and characteristics of product assigned to him.
This position requires a conscientious individual who can concentrate on detail while focusing himself and the crew on the appropriate tasks at hand.
Working Conditions Always working under the pressure of tight deadlines and strict quality control standards, this position demands the need to multitask and keep several tasks in the air at once with a high level of urgency, will spend most of the time working in an environment that is relatively loud, will be exposed to all types of weather conditions when checking production areas, this position deals with aggressive personalities in a highly competitive industry and will be stressful.
there will be training where the supervisor will have to learn each process on the fabrication side such as Material Puller, Material Handler, Machine Operator, Fabricator, QC Inspector, Supervisor will have to do the manual work for each position, and he will be receiving the training from different employees.
Physical Requirements Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time Mental Stamina and while certainly not something we want to see on a continuing basis, recognizing the time to be there because it's tough and you're expecting others to be there too.
Regularly required sitting, standing, knelling, squatting, stopping, walking for pro-longed period, frequently involves heavy lifting up to 50lb.
utilizing proper lifting techniques.
