Job Purpose Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for providing Direction and Support in Federal and State Regulatory matters to the area Managers, Supervisors, and Safety Committee members.
This position will provide guidance and coordination of day-to-day safety requirements.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities Implements and maintains all written programs, completing and documenting hazard surveys, training, testing, inspection logs, certifications, calibrations, scheduling of reoccurring events, speciation of PPE and labeling, and annual effectiveness reviews.
Responsible for the maintenance and development of all written programs for all applicable OSHA standards.
Maintains all records and documentation related to Safety Program Maintains OSHA 300, 301 and 301A logs.
Conducts accident investigations to determine Root Cause and Corrective Actions Trains all levels of the organization in their roles and duties regarding the safety program.
Makes engineering recommendations on hazard reduction and elimination such as guarding, ventilation, etcetera.
Implements and maintains First Aid program and supplies.
Documents and posts required documents and measurements such as OSHA required posters, issued compliance letters, Incident Rate, days worked since lost time incident and related EHS KPI's.
Maintain a visible presence in the Production environment while ensuring adherence to OSHA regulations.
Mentoring of area Managers/Supervisors on OSHA requirements and company safety practices Participate in Facility Safety Audits and Corrective Action (Root Cause) follow up with area Managers.
Ensure that all accidents are reported, documented on Incident form and acceptable corrective action is addressed immediately.
Administer New Employee Orientation on company safety policies and procedures prior to starting work.
Provide direction and support to the Safety Committee members.
Regular review of all applicable legislative standards to ensure compliance.
Maintain TCEQ NSR Permit requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Required Skills Qualifications include:
3-5 Years of Safety Program Management in an industrial setting preferably in wood working technology 10- and 30-hour OSHA training certificate Bachelor's Degree in related field of science or equivalent experience Ability to demonstrate the application of Root Cause Analysis Ability to demonstrate the application of Risk Assessments / Job Hazard Analysis Ability to demonstrate the application of Respiratory protection program.
Ability to demonstrate the application of Hearing Conservation program.
Ability to demonstrate the application of NSR permit requirements.
Strong verbal and written communication skills Public Presentation and training Skills MS Office Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Working Conditions Working indoors or outdoors in seasonably hot or cold temperatures.
Activities involve being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, noise levels that can exceed 85 dBa, and minimal exposure to dust.
Physical Requirements Requires standing for prolonged periods and walking throughout the facility.
