Position Description:
To provide safety and security for our youth, staff, and campus property in accordance with our mission and values of Covenant House Texas.
Our safety officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of residents, staff, and the physical facility.
Job
Responsibilities:
Maintains a log of all pertinent information and happenings on shift.
Monitors entry into building complex through ground patrol and use of surveillance cameras.
Monitors fire alarm system in the security office.
Maintains the agency vehicle logs; oversees vehicle check-in and out; oversees timely reporting of accident reports and notifies AOC and/or Executive Director.
Responsible for receiving and issuing youth CYBA funds from Program Administrative Assistant.
Prevents theft of or damage to Covenant House property as well as that belonging to residents and staff.
Receives and disperses staff expense checks.
Aids in resolving emergency situations.
Protects residents and staff from physical harm by performing safety checks of staff, residents, volunteers, and visitors on Covenant House Texas property.
Must complete 19 hours of training per calendar year.
Answers agency phones after hours.
Make detex clock rounds.
Maintains vehicle logs and checks for damage.
Performs other duties as deemed necessary by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
Prefer a high school diploma or equivalent.
One year of security experience preferred.
Able to quickly access the situation and make decisions.
Must have good oral and written communication skills.
Basic math skills needed.
Work Environment:
Must be able to move quickly from one task to another; to frequently sit, stand, walk, for long periods of time.
May occasionally lift and bend no more than 40 lbs.
Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions and either hot or cold temperatures.
Able to climb stairs, as needed.
Covenant House Texas is a vaccinated employer.
As such, prospective new hires will be required to provide proof of vaccination or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered, unless an exemptions has been requested and approved.
