Dental Insurance Billing Specialist Job Overview The Insurance Billing Specialist is responsible for all billing of dental claims electronically and correspondence via mail, data entry, and general office tasks and duties including, but not limited to benefits eligibility verification and tracing claims and payments.

Dental Insurance Billing Specialist Qualifications PPO billing Insurance collections Recordkeeping Appealing claims Payment posting Claims examining Ensuring insurance accounts are in good standing.
Tracing of claims Submit/resubmit to insurance carriers.
Electronic and paper billing Proficient in HMO/PPO/Denti-Cal guidelines Batching claims Accounts receivable Dentrix Auditing accounts Collect co-pay and collections Dental terminology Dental Insurance Billing Specialist Responsibilities and Duties Print claims daily (Denti-Cal, PPO, HMO) Request any additional information that is needed from the office in order to send out claims for payment Send out claims and document billing notes Process requests via email from offices in the field Print electronic claims reports and make any corrections that are needed in order for claims to be sent electronically.
Request any additional information from office that is needed to make these corrections Send out all re-submittals Appeal denied claims Print and submit treatment authorizations requests daily Run weekly reports for unbilled insurances Process attachments through Dentrix Work with your team members in processing claims Trace outstanding claims Provides customer service to the affiliated dental practices, through the call center, as well as email Maintain accurate billing data, reporting/supporting documents, records, and reports Communicate issues and suggestions to improve processes Participate in committees, special projects, staff meetings, and team huddles as requested Maintains an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with Company policies Ensure compliance with Company policies, as well as State, Federal and other regulatory bodies Other duties as assigned by the Office Manager, Regional Manager, and/or Leadership team Dental Insurance Billing Specialist Education A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required Dental Insurance Billing Specialist Experience At least 2 years of related work experience in a dental setting.
