SUMMARY Westlake Chemical Corporation Digital Office operates at the heart of the strategic direction of our enterprise. The Digital Office team drives digital transformation across the enterprise entire portfolio to achieve growth through leapfrogging customer experience and operational excellence. As a member of the Digital Office, the Data Analyst will work with Data Scientists, other Data Analysts, business, and functional subject matter experts to orchestrate a data driven enterprise and develop end-to-end analytics solutions that provide actionable insights in real-time, automating manufacturing and routine business process decisions. As a Data Analyst you will leverage innovative data technologies to provide analysis and contribute in the development of models to find patterns in large volume of structured and unstructured data for a wide spectrum of business processes and manufacturing processes. You will develop processes and design reports to produce real-time business intelligence. You will work with a variety of infrastructures that generate and carry data such as Web, Cloud, Mist, Fog, Edge, On-Premise, SCADA, IIoT, Mobile, and Robotics in manufacturing and business processes. By Digital or Digitization, Westlake means a combination of technologies, tools, methods, approaches etc. that will enable Westlake to re-architect business processes and business models to achieve superior financial returns or meet the organizations strategic objectives in areas such as safety, sustainability, and business processes improvements and transformations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES May include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assist with identifying what data is available, including internal and external data sources Works with subject matter experts to identify and select the relevant sources of information. Works with internal and external Developers and Data Scientist understand data source connectivity to enable metadata ingestion from various data sources Explores diverse data sets from a variety of different sources to gather, synthesize and analyze relevant data and draw conclusions that can be used to identify relevant issues, business concerns, and trends Assist with formulating hypotheses about relationships and underlying models and carry out experiments with the data to test hypotheses and models Explores data to discover or refine hypotheses, discovers new relationships, insights and analytic paths from the data Collect, cleanse, and develops an understanding of complex data sources to enable proper analytical modeling Run models and apply techniques such as querying and macro development to extract data for populating models. Builds knowledge of processes and products and which analyses, methodologies and approaches best support the Digital Initiatives Collaborate cross-functional with business units and functional units to deliver Digital initiatives and to assist in developing the architecture of digital business processes. This may include augmented reality, predictive and prescriptive maintenance, no-touch order management, platform economy, digital avatar, control systems, robotics applications Collaborate to develop Digital Literacy of the enterprise through training citizen data analysts. Fully supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities to initiate projects or communicate ideas to management as well as active participation on project teams. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 3 years' experience in data science, measurement and analysis, quantitative business problem solving, operations analysis, marketing analysis, simulation development and/or predictive analytics Bachelor in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science Strong data analysis and computer skills Must be able to process, clean, and verify the integrity of raw data Competency in the use of one or more analytics software languages (e.g. Python, R, MATLAB, IDEA, SPSS, Google Analytics) Competency in data visualization tools such as SAP BI, Power BI and Tableau Experience in data warehouse and data lake principals Experience with modeling techniques for complex systems and machine learning Familiarity with Azure, Snowflake, and/or AWS Familiarity with database query language such as SQL Familiarity with Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, Neural Networks, Machine Learning, Machine Vision, Statistical modeling, time series and frequency analysis Background in manufacturing process industry preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
