Physician Assistant (Rehabilitation and Extended Care Line)

Performing initial and follow-up medical histories and physical examinations (inpatient and outpatient) Screening outpatients to determine their need for further health care Ordering appropriate laboratory tests, x-rays, EKGs (electrocardiograms), and similar noninvasive tests Initiating and expediting consultation requests and scheduling special tests and studies Responsible for the care of inpatients and outpatients and notifying the supervising physician of significant changes in patients' condition Dispensing medications (including injections) Providing education and counseling to the patient and the patient's family in preventive care, medical conditions, and the use of prescribed treatments and medications Performing preventive health activities Ordering appropriate prosthetic devices and medical equipment Making appropriate interim summaries of the patient's medical record Recording notes on all procedures performed for which the PA is responsible Providing medical care to patients with various rehabilitation diagnosis Work Schedule:

Graduate of a PA training program, or of a surgical assistant program which is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor organizations; AND A Bachelor's degree from an accredited PA training program or in another health sciences related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Certification:
Current and continuous certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required for employment in VHA. English Language Proficiency:
PA's appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d). Grade Determinations:
In addition to the Basic Requirements, the following criteria must be met in determining the appropriate grade for appointment:
Full Grade:
None beyond the basic requirements. Intermediate Grade:
One (1) year of professional practice as a PA; OR Successful completion of a PA post-graduate residency program accredited by ARC-PA or by the U.S. Armed Forces; OR A Master's degree from a PA training program certified by ARC-PA or in another health related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Senior Grade:
Three (3) years of professional practice as a PA; OR Two (2) years of professional practice as a PA and successful completion of a PA post-graduate residency program accredited by ARC-PA or the U.S. Armed Forces; OR Two (2) years of professional practice as a PA and a Master's degree from a PA training program certified by ARC-PA or in another health-related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education; OR a Doctoral degree in a health-related field from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Chief Grade:
Generally, an individual in this grade is able to demonstrate the behaviors after 5 years of professional practice as a PA; AND have a Master's Degree. References:

The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of VN-8 to VN-13. Physical Requirements:
Light lifting (15 lbs. and under); Light carrying (15 lbs. and under); use of fingers and both hands required; walking (up to 3 hours); standing (up to 3 hours); ability for rapid, mental, and muscular coordination simultaneously; near vision correctable at 13 to 16; hearing (aid permitted); mental and emotional stability.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
