DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs various real estate activities related to the disposition of City property through the Joint Referral Committee (JRC) process. Transactions often involve the abandonment and sale of streets, alleys, easements and fee-owned land that may include multiple properties or complicated/multi-agency issues. Prepares reports for active projects as assigned. Meet with applicants during the weekly intake day and time; review applications for completeness and adherence to departmental, City, and legal standards; apply knowledge and understanding of real estate rules and principles to completing work assignments. Prepare memos, letters, and other documents regarding JRC transactions in accordance with established deadlines and procedures. Follow up with committee members, constituents and any additional interested parties on outstanding responses. Maintain applicable Capital Management Improvement System (CIMS) database fields current at all times. Prepare and present all applications to the JRC on a weekly basis.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Requires ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Will require standing, walking, and include whatever means necessary to climb stairs and the ability to perform and negotiate field hazards.
This is a Department of Public Works & Engineering Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Public Administration or a closely related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years of professional experience in real estate activities, design or a closely related field required. Directly related professional experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Must have valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving.
PREFERENCES:
Preference shall be given to applicants who are proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel. In addition experience public sector land acquisition and relocation assistance is preferred. Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
