ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (Software Defined Access (SDA)

Description Leidos has openings for an IT Field Technician in support of NASA's Software Defined Access (SDA) implementation and sustainment. The IT Field Technician will be responsible for:
Installing, supporting, and/or maintaining LANs and/or WANs; evaluating and recommending networking product and software upgrades. Performing technical analyses of software, hardware and transmission facilities using various diagnostic tools in support of efficient network operations. Monitoring data traffic and controls network resource performance to ensure high-quality transmission. Identifying, diagnosing and resolving technical problems related to network failure/integrity and usage of PC hardware and software. Utilizing existing knowledge while building additional knowledge of the company, client, and processes. Resolving work orders for Network issues. Solving a range of straightforward problems. Analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures. Completing work with a moderate level of guidance and direction. Solving standard problems by analyzing possible solutions using experience, judgement, and precedents. Impacting quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Working within guidelines and policies. Explaining information to others in straightforward situations. Basic
Qualifications:
BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field or 10 years of experience in lieu of degree. 5 or more years of relevant experience 3
years' experience troubleshooting complex Layer 1 routing and switching issues. 3
years' experience configuring switches, routers, network appliances. Ability to work flexible hours, i.e., weekends or late afternoons and evenings. Required Skills:
Advanced troubleshooting skills Senior Level knowledge of configuring and maintaining network devices such as switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, and network appliances. Understanding of network protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, and routing protocols. Ability to work in a team environment to resolve technical issues in a dynamic environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with clients and team members effectively. Ability to interpret network drawings and specifications. Ability to identify different colors and telecom color codes. Lifting of heavy objects of up to 50 pounds Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel Preferred
Qualifications:
