Job DetailsJob LocationLandmark Hospitality Group LLC - HOUSTON, TXPosition TypeFull TimeEducation LevelBachelor's DegreeJob ShiftDayJob CategoryAccounting/FinanceDescriptionJOB SUMMARY Responsible for the accounting of three casual dining and one upscale restaurants including posting revenue, cost of sales, payroll & benefits, utilities and other operating expenses.
Maintains Accounting Close Checklist to ensure all accounting tasks are completed for month-end.
Also responsible for reconciling all balance sheet accounts including evaluating whether assets and liabilities are correctly stated.
Performs fluctuation analysis of significant accounts for current month to prior months to identify accounting errors to correct or operational issues to bring to management's attention.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Knowledgeable in accounting rules for accrual accounting and asset accounting, restaurant point of sale systems, and restaurant operating processes.
Ensures all accounting entries for recording revenue and receivables, cost of sales and inventory, operating expenses, depreciation and assets are recorded accurately and timely for all restaurants.
Ensures all vendor invoices are entered as bills using the invoice date so all expenses are recorded in the proper month.
Prepares accruals for restaurant bonuses, insurance expense, and other goods and services incurred not billed.
Ensures balance sheet accounts are reconciled accurately and timely and submitted to management for review for all assigned restaurants.
Performs fluctuation analysis of operating statement and balance sheet accounts for current month to prior months to identify accounting errors to correct or operational issues to bring to management's attention.
Contacts restaurant management to confirm equipment additions and dispositions and updates asset accounts and depreciation expense.
Maintains Accounting Close Checklist listing all accounting tasks and ensures all tasks are assigned and scheduled so the accounting for all assigned restaurants is completed within 10 business days of month-end.
Performs comparative analysis of menu pricing, cost of sales items, personnel costs, and other operating expenses to identify areas of opportunity and improvement.
Provides external auditors with requested client assistance including business process flow, financial process documentation, balance sheet account reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and supplemental financial schedules for annual audits.
Uses professional and ethical judgement and critical thinking when performing all duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsREQUIREMENTSIntegrity Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or related Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant preferred Accounting experience - 4 plus years Restaurant Accounting experience 4 years Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting system functionality, accounting procedures, restaurant operating processes, and Point of Sale systems to management and restaurant personnel.
Toast POS system experience preferred MS Office Suite proficiency required EDUCATION College Degree in Accounting, Finance or Information Technology or equivalence Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant preferred KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting system functionality, accounting procedures, restaurant operating processes, and Point of Sale systems to management and restaurant personnel.
Understanding of restaurant operating processes and system functionality, and apply accounting and business knowledge, and mathematical concepts in analysis and resolution of problems.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks, receive guidance and work independently, identify key objectives, be action-oriented, achieve operating goals, and display ethics and values in all actions.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
