General:
follows directions and duties as assigned by managers; acceptable written and verbal communications skills; working closely with other departments/organizations and collaborating with other IT staff willing to work flexible hours daily and weekends (as needed) with overtime as approved by management.
Database/System:
Progress database administration:
maintaining the performance, integrity, resiliency, and security of all Progress database.
Develop and maintain complex models and logical database designs.
Teaming with the Manager, Business Systems Administration to build and manage the database disaster recovery and backup plan.
Analyze and report the performance of database operations against the key database performance metrics.
Meet performance standards in accordance to service level agreements set by the company.
Active Directory administration, allocating network accounts; setting up user accounts, permissions and passwords.
Evaluates the need for updating technology assets, and makes recommendations.
Administers and utilizes the service desk ticketing system.
Other:
Participates in the organization's continuous Improvement Program-Quality and ISO 9000 (as appropriate); Authority:
Has authority to configure and administer the Progress-based business systems environment via standard Company processes and procedures.
Requirements:
Knowledge Knowledge of database design, programming analysis, systems design, and data communication concepts.
Proficient with relational database.
Expert knowledge of Progress database administration tools and techniques.
Expert knowledge of Linux and Unix operating systems administration.

Skills:
Technical- administration of Progress databases, Linux and UNIX OS.
Oral/Written Skills- communications are clear, concise and achieve intended objectives.
Interpersonal Skills- strong people skills- effective interpersonal skills for frequent interaction with subordinates and management and ability to build string department relationships.
Organizational Skills- ability to organize function responsibilities and prioritize multiple projects.
Pressure/Deadlines- works well under pressure within changing deadlines and time constraints.
Computer Skills- Windows Server, Linux, Unix, Progress, SQL Server, MS Office applications, and communications.
Educational Requirements or
Experience:
4-6 years of experience with the database administration.
High school graduate.
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or relevant academic field preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Squatting, sitting, bending, pushing, walking and stooping 8-10 hours per day.
Able to lift 50# Exposure to production environment.
Must wear Personal Protective Equipment when in Production areas.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
